ROLE SUMMARY:

We are in search of a driven and meticulous Senior Research Scientist with a strong history of leading projects through innovative problem-solving and achieving significant outcomes. In this role, you will independently create and refine in situ molecular biology assays as part of our R&D Spatial Research Applications Team, engaging in hands-on experimentation and direct interactions with clients.

This position demands extensive knowledge in molecular biology assay development, tissue processing, and preferably experience with spatial biology assays and advanced imaging methodologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the enhancement of our intellectual property and market-ready products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical authority within a specific discipline while providing insights beyond that discipline at the Core Team Level.
  • Act as a decision-maker, synthesizing diverse information from various sources.
  • Generate data that informs and supports the decision-making process.
  • Your contributions are expected to significantly influence corporate objectives.
  • Experimental Design and Execution: Plan and conduct experiments to develop and optimize techniques for tissue sample preparation, in situ molecular assays, and validation of robustness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with teams in chemistry, engineering, materials science, image analysis, and bioinformatics. Clearly communicate findings across different organizational levels through engaging and coherent presentations.
  • Design assays that meet project goals for client samples, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Literature Review and Intellectual Property Development: Stay updated on relevant research and contribute to the advancement of intellectual property.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of industry or postdoctoral experience.
  • Proven dedication to high-quality scientific research, demonstrated by a record of significant scientific contributions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex results clearly to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, exhibiting exceptional customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including method and reagent development, NGS, nucleic acid analysis, and amplification methods.
  • Proficient in fluorescence microscopy, Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH), and handling tissue samples.
  • Comprehensive understanding of spatial biology technologies and the market landscape.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Deep knowledge of spatial transcriptomics, including assay development and data interpretation.
  • Advanced skills in multiplexed protein imaging and tissue pathology.
  • Strong bioinformatics capabilities relevant to spatial biology, with proficiency in analyzing data using a variety of tools.
  • Experience in immuno-oncology and tumor microenvironment research is highly advantageous.
