Role Summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist to contribute to our vibrant and rapidly evolving start-up environment. The ideal candidate will be part of our forward-thinking R&D team, engaging in the development of technologies aimed at enhancing the lives of cancer patients. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team of data scientists, molecular biologists, clinical laboratory professionals, and medical practitioners to achieve essential company goals, including the automation and optimization of the UroAmp assay workflow, the expansion of UroAmp-supported clinical trials, and the creation of innovative NGS assays and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cutting-edge assays and methodologies for next-generation sequencing applications and clinical sample processing.
  • Plan and conduct experiments, interpret results, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Enhance assays and laboratory workflows for improved stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Work alongside automation engineers to transition manual processes to automated liquid handling systems.
  • Take ownership of significant projects and execute necessary tasks independently.
  • Facilitate clear communication with colleagues, collaborators, and supervisors through presentations, written reports, technical discussions, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all research activities.
  • Exhibit both strong individual contribution and collaborative teamwork.
  • Show adaptability while maintaining productivity.
  • Provide mentorship to junior scientists.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • M.S. in a relevant life science field with experience in the liquid biopsy/NGS sector.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of molecular biology techniques and next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications.
  • Solid foundation in genetics, genomics, and/or cancer biology.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to meticulously implement complex experimental designs, analyze extensive data sets, and derive meaningful conclusions.
  • Experience in liquid biopsy and/or oncology is advantageous.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Driven, detail-oriented, organized individual with a strong passion for innovation and product development.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

  • Work hours and days may vary based on operational requirements.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting may be necessary.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, blood specimens, and equipment with moving parts, heating or freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation may occur.
  • Repetitive manual pipetting may be required.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $106,800 to $161,000, determined by the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

We offer comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with a 401k retirement plan after 1,000 hours of employment. Additional benefits include access to short- and long-term disability, universal life insurance, and voluntary disability and personal accident insurance plans.
