We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Principal Applied Scientist to join our Sponsored TV team at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the technical roadmap and innovation strategy for our Sponsored TV product, which is a strategic new Amazon Ads product that is pioneering new experiences to help brands connect with millions of viewers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of cutting-edge machine learning solutions to improve viewer experience and drive business growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and design, to ensure seamless integration of ML solutions.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Sponsored TV business and identify opportunities to apply ML to drive business outcomes.
- Partner with engineering leaders to build efficient and scalable solutions that meet the needs of our business.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Recruit, mentor, and guide senior scientists to build a high-performing team.
About the Team
The Sponsored TV Ads team is a strategic new Amazon Ads product that is pioneering new experiences to help brands connect with millions of viewers. We are innovating on performance ads on TV and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that values work-life balance.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- 10+ years of applied ML experience in delivering ML-based solutions to solve real-world problems and achieve business goals, at a very large scale.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience leading multiple ML teams to design products that satisfy a customer need.
- Published research work in academic conferences or industry circles.
- Experience shipping large-scale deep learning models for online recommendation, personalization, or search.
- Experience partnering with engineering teams to ensure deep learning solutions meet latency requirements.
- Experience influencing product strategy through cutting-edge research in deep learning.
- Effective verbal and written skills in communicating with both non-technical and technical audiences.
- Excellent business judgment; the ability to balance business, product, and technology priorities.
- Expert in machine learning, statistics, and experiment design.
- Experience hiring and building teams of applied scientists.
- Experience collaborating and influencing cross-functionally across science, engineering, economics, and business teams.
