Job Title: Public Area Attendant

Position Overview:

Under the direct guidance of the Floor Supervisor, the Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various public spaces, including meeting rooms, restrooms, offices, and hallways within the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning agents to sanitize public restrooms, sinks, mirrors, walls, toilets, and floors.
  • Arranges furniture and installs drapery as needed.
  • Conducts sweeping, carpet cleaning, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing of floors in public areas.
  • Performs vacuuming of rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies in communal spaces and offices.
  • Maintains cleanliness in meeting rooms and elevators, including walls and carpets.
  • Ensures all public areas of the hotel are kept clean and presentable.
  • Dusts furniture and cleans walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties waste receptacles and cleans ashtrays in public and pool areas.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the pool area and associated furniture.
  • Restocks bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs in public restrooms.
  • Contributes to team efforts and achieves related outcomes as necessary.
  • Completes maintenance requests for items requiring repair.
  • Assists with deliveries to guest rooms, including rollaway beds, cribs, and amenities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • At least six months of experience in hotel housekeeping is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.

  • Understanding of occupational hazards and relevant safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in basic English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates exceptional guest service consistently.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Safely uses cleaning products and operates cleaning equipment.
  • Follows oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to learn cleaning methods and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Works effectively as part of a team in a structured environment.
  • Completes tasks with timeliness and thoroughness.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in work results.
  • Proficient in using cleaning tools, chemicals, and disinfectants.

Physical Requirements:

The team member is regularly required to stand for extended periods, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. Frequent walking is required, along with occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This role is primarily performed in a hotel setting, with potential exposure to second-hand smoke and elevated noise levels. The position involves working with chemicals, dust, and bio-hazards. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be necessary, along with extended hours and irregular schedules.
