Patient Service Representative

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled Patient Service Representative to join our team. As the first point of contact for patients and their caregivers, this role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and accurately enter information into computer systems.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and caregivers in a welcoming and friendly manner.
- Provide support to patients and their caregivers, including collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial data.
- Register and pre-register patients in the database, including collecting accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Properly complete and explain all required registration forms.
- Properly file imaging requisitions and adhere to general admitting policies and procedures.
- Timely and accurately discharge patients per practitioner order.
- Cover the switchboard during lunches, breaks, and night shifts.
- Follow proper procedures for deaths and autopsies to ensure timely handling of deceased patients.
- Manage patient valuables in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
- Collect copays as required, following cash drawer process.
- High school degree plus two years of clerical experience required.
- Previous healthcare experience and medical terminology preferred.
This role is based at Cayuga Medical Center and requires flexibility in assuming other appropriate responsibilities and duties.
