Educational Leadership Coordinator - (Preferred Experience in Special Education)

Position Overview:

REPORTS TO:
Superintendent of Schools

SUPERVISES:
Special Education and Child Study Team staff, along with overall school personnel as an Educational Leadership Coordinator.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary role of the Educational Leadership Coordinator is to provide strategic direction in the development, execution, and enhancement of educational programs that cater to the diverse learning needs of students and staff.


  • Collaborates with the principal on instructional leadership, supervision, evaluation, and administrative functions.
  • Acts as the building administrator during the principal's absence.
  • Facilitates safety inspections, drills, and procedural activities.
  • Oversees the operation of security systems within the facility.
  • Coordinates transportation, cafeteria, and other student support services.
  • Monitors student attendance and conducts follow-up investigations.
  • Maintains high standards of student behavior, enforcing disciplinary policies and communicating changes to families.
  • Prepares reports on incidents of violence, vandalism, and substance abuse.
  • Serves as the Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) Coordinator, conducting investigations as necessary.
  • Recommends policy and personnel practice modifications.
  • Assists in the scheduling process as required.
  • Supervises extracurricular activities and assigns staff for school events.
  • Leads the district's special education initiatives, implementing policies and evaluating existing programs.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations governing special education services.
  • Facilitates parent, teacher, and team meetings to implement programs for classified students.
  • Collaborates with the Child Study Team to prepare for conferences regarding classified students and assists in developing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
  • Contributes to the development of the CST evaluation program.
  • Assigns CST caseloads and appoints case managers for referred students.
  • Coordinates conferences with professionals, therapists, teachers, and administrators.
  • Schedules Extended School Year (ESY) programs.
  • Arranges therapy sessions, including Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and speech services for students in need.
  • Organizes small groups for standardized testing and implements accommodations for special education and 504 students.
  • Acts as the district's 504 Coordinator.
  • Completes applications for special education grants, including IDEA submissions.
  • Develops the departmental budget for the Child Study Team.
  • Recommends professional development opportunities for educators.
  • Participates in county and state meetings as required.
  • Completes necessary reports for county, state, and federal compliance.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or requested by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a State of New Jersey Administrator or Principal Certificate.
  • Experience in school administration and/or instructional supervision is required.
  • Proven ability to utilize data to inform instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in grant writing and fund development.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills; ability to articulate clearly in various settings.
  • Proficient in writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and database management.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in grant management, school administration, and program supervision.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.
  • Current residency in New Jersey or an approved residency waiver, with a commitment to establish residency within one year of employment.
  • Preferred experience in special education.
