Overview of the Role

The Quality Improvement RN Coordinator plays a pivotal role in utilizing clinical and analytical skills to pinpoint trends in quality and patient safety. This position is integral to fostering patient safety across various healthcare settings and spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and safety standards.

This role is essential in supporting the Maternal Levels of Care Verification through the Joint Commission for multiple regional sites. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days on-site presence.

A strong background in obstetrics is highly preferred, along with clinical RN experience. Familiarity with Quality Initiatives is advantageous, as are exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Required travel between regional sites.
  • Must possess strong organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of formal Performance Improvement (PI) methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen principles and training activities.
  • Capable of delivering presentations to large groups.
  • Willingness to travel to various healthcare facilities as necessary.

Job Scope

The Quality Improvement RN Coordinator leverages clinical knowledge to identify patient safety issues and trends, assessing the quality of care provided. This role promotes patient safety throughout the care continuum and leads teams in initiatives to enhance quality and safety outcomes. The coordinator actively participates in hospital committees and process improvement initiatives, assisting leadership in developing strategies that align with current clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing data for analysis, trending, and reporting to improve patient care and safety.
  • Analyzing reports to ensure compliance with pay-for-performance and regulatory standards.
  • Assisting leadership in recognizing trends and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Coordinating specific program requirements to ensure readiness for regulatory assessments.
  • Collaborating with all levels of hospital management and clinical staff to achieve quality and safety objectives.
  • Educating staff on regulatory requirements and safety performance improvement initiatives.
  • Providing expertise in clinical and performance improvement to various departments.
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary projects aimed at enhancing organizational performance.
  • Supporting healthcare providers in advancing quality measures through effective strategies.
  • Independently seeking resources and identifying opportunities for quality and process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A Master's Degree in nursing, business, or a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in patient safety and clinical quality improvement is required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state is mandatory upon hire.
