Position Overview:
As a UAS Materials Research Scientist, you will be responsible for synthesizing and evaluating technical data related to international weapon systems and advanced technologies.

Your expertise will encompass advanced materials production, energetic materials, and the relationships between structure and properties in the context of weapon system development and execution.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify technical gaps, inconsistencies, and reliability of comprehensive material by applying established technical parameters on equipment functionality or technology utilization, and drawing insights from recognized data on foreign equipment attributes, research and development (R&D), and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Perform evaluations of existing and prospective system functionalities, constraints, and/or weaknesses, leading to the creation of detailed all-source evaluations. Leverage engineering analysis documents of evaluated technical capabilities to build and sustain databases on conventional weaponry and systems.
  • Contribute to or develop models and simulations to assess operational characteristics, including potential impacts on targets.
  • Preferred background includes experience with UAS/UAV, particularly regarding payloads and munitions associated with UAS.
  • Familiarity with UAS armor systems, including materials and their properties.
  • Knowledge of military intelligence, including collaboration with military systems and payloads.

Compensation:
Pay Rate Range: $35-75
Conversion Salary Range: $74,600-$156,700

Qualifications:
  • Experience in terminal effects, energetics, and explosives.
  • Intel experience/background.
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.).

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Engineer on Department of Defense (DoD) related initiatives and projects.


  • Experience in all-source analysis for the production of products (S&TI related assessment writing).
  • UAS experience as a pilot, planner, operator, or hands-on with hardware/software/firmware.
