As a Financial Specialist at E.O. Johnson Company, Inc., you will be responsible for managing financial records and transactions. This role involves overseeing accounts payable, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and enhancing operational efficiency within a dynamic team setting.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Specialist will independently manage account records and financial transactions, focusing on accounts payable and account reconciliations. This position is crucial for maintaining streamlined administrative processes that contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, vendor management, and timely payment execution.
  • Assist in the month-end general ledger process and perform account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile commission statements, addressing any discrepancies with relevant departments.
  • Support various departments with accounting functions, procedures, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain accounting databases by entering data into the company’s financial management system.
  • Reconcile bank and company financial accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as necessary.
  • Process and validate equipment rebates and credits.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive company information.
  • Manage all aspects of sales and use tax statements.
  • Assist with finance-related projects, reporting requirements, and process enhancements.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, manage depreciation, and handle personal property tax reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Strong understanding of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with three-way matching of accounts payable, purchasing, and receiving documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Business ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles related to data classification, recording, and summarization.
  • General understanding of sound accounting practices.
  • Basic knowledge of General Ledger accounts and their relation to invoices.
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of related tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building rapport and effective listening.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands of this position require the employee to sit, talk, and hear regularly, with occasional requirements to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, reach, pull, push, lift, or carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
