GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, conducts high-quality diagnostic MRI scans. The MRI Imaging Specialist will possess extensive knowledge of MRI technology and equipment.

Ensures adherence to performance metrics aimed at achieving patient satisfaction, clinical quality standards, and operational financial objectives.

Actively contributes to fostering an environment that aligns with our organizational values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enhancing Patient Experience:
Identifies and implements strategies to improve patient interactions. Engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and overall patient satisfaction.

Safety and Compliance:
Recognizes opportunities to enhance the safety of the environment for both patients and staff. Participates in safety programs designed to mitigate risks and prevent errors.

Technical Responsibilities:
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of MRI equipment and maintains clinical proficiency.
Conducts routine safety checks and quality control assessments for MRI machinery and associated systems.

Prepares patients for procedures by verifying identification, reviewing medical history, and conducting safety screenings. Ensures strict compliance with departmental safety protocols.

Assists patients with positioning on the MRI table, applies necessary immobilization devices, and explains procedures to alleviate concerns and encourage cooperation.

Performs MRI scans across all patient demographics, including neonates, children, adults, and seniors, in accordance with physician directives and departmental policies.

Exhibits awareness of the unique needs of various age groups regarding their physical, emotional, and cognitive development.

Coordinates with medical professionals and care teams regarding unscheduled examinations, ensuring timely and accurate outcomes.
Administers IV contrast as required, following established protocols.
Ensures accuracy of patient information on all imaging and documentation.
Delivers completed examinations promptly for processing and interpretation.
Records post-procedure data in the RIS system to guarantee accurate billing and patient history.
Reports equipment issues and coordinates necessary repairs.
Facilitates training for Radiology students and staff on MRI equipment operation and related technical skills.

Stays informed on advancements in the field through continuous education and professional development.

Adheres to hospital and departmental policies regarding safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.

Provides MRI services during on-call hours as needed.
Assists physicians during MRI-guided procedures.
May participate in departmental functions such as:
- Staff Scheduling
- Employee Evaluations
- Supply Management
- Budgeting
- Process Improvement
- Policy Development
Collects and evaluates patient and environmental data to enhance safety protocols.
Performs additional duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

Knowledge of radiology practices and procedures typically acquired through completion of an accredited radiology program, an Associate's Degree in Radiology, or equivalent on-the-job training to meet ARRT certification standards.

Additional coursework in computer skills and cross-sectional anatomy is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of clinical experience in diagnostic imaging is advantageous for skill enhancement.

Previous experience in MRI technology and cross-sectional anatomy is beneficial.

Certification:

Current BLS certification or completion within a specified timeframe post-hire is required. All clinical personnel in designated roles must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through recognized programs.

ARRT MRI registry certification or ARMRI certification is encouraged to be obtained within two years of employment.

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography, or eligible for registration with certification to be completed within three months of hire.

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective interaction with patients, physicians, and colleagues in high-stress situations.

Analytical skills are essential for mastering MRI techniques and methods.

Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy is critical for producing quality images.

Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail for the majority of work hours when operating equipment and managing patient records, while also functioning effectively under pressure and during irregular hours.

HEAVY WORK: Lifting up to 100 lbs maximum. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
VERY HEAVY WORK: Lifting over 100 lbs. Frequent lifting and carrying of 50 lbs or more.
