This position allows for remote work, with necessary tools such as a company vehicle, computer, and mobile phone provided. Ideal candidates will be able to manage their responsibilities effectively while maintaining a flexible schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess commercial and farm risks for acceptance, modification, or rejection in accordance with company policies and standards. This includes conducting physical inspections and offering risk management insights to agents and clients.
  • Draft comprehensive guidelines for the rating and issuance of new insurance policies.
  • Implement and justify Individual Rate Modifications for commercial and farm policies, excluding Worker's Compensation.
  • Engage in training sessions for agents to enhance their understanding of underwriting practices.
  • Establish and uphold a weekly itinerary for fieldwork, which includes travel within an assigned territory, while ensuring office time is allocated for report completion and communication with the home office and agents.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in farm and/or property/casualty underwriting.
  • Proven exceptional communication abilities.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
  • Self-driven with a demonstrated capacity to work autonomously.
  • Basic knowledge of various construction types and fundamental mechanical systems (plumbing, heating, electrical).
  • Proficient in using personal computers, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Preferred additional education in CPCU or other relevant industry coursework.
  • A bachelor's degree in insurance, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Hmong, etc.) are advantageous.
