Materials Characterization Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY :
We are looking for a proactive and skilled professional to become a vital part of our Material Science and Characterization Laboratory. This lab is dedicated to employing cutting-edge analytical methods for the evaluation of materials utilized in consumer goods. As a member of the Failure Analysis Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering analysis services aimed at addressing reliability, manufacturing, and material design challenges. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about utilizing a range of techniques such as FTIR, GC-MS, IC-MS, TGA, DSC, and more to tackle material-related inquiries.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL EXPERTISE :

•Proficient in the operation of FTIR, GC-MS, IC-MS, TGA, and DSC for data collection on the composition of polymers, contaminants in materials, outgassing from adhesives/inks, etc., to support Failure Analysis investigations.

•Skilled in preparing samples for the aforementioned techniques, including polymers, adhesives, multi-layered composites, small particulate debris, contamination, discoloration, etc.

•Experience with microscopy techniques, such as optical microscopy, to analyze sample structures and morphology.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.

•Experience with FTIR instruments is required; familiarity with GC-MS, IC-MS, TGA, and DSC is advantageous.

•Proven experience in sample preparation for the aforementioned techniques.

•Knowledge of safe laboratory practices and experience working with solvents, adhesives, polymers, etc.

•Ability to handle and manipulate small objects while observing under a microscope.

•Effective communication skills, including the ability to seek guidance, ask clarifying questions, convey findings, and accept constructive feedback.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range*: 80K-85K
*The salary offered to a successful candidate will be determined based on various factors, including education, work experience, job location, specific responsibilities, certifications, etc.
