Amerantbank is seeking a highly skilled Credit Risk Specialist III to join our team. As a key member of our Credit Risk Department, you will be responsible for calculating the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) and Credit Risk SEC reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement ACL models, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Amerantbank's risk management policies.
  • Collaborate with credit-related units to compile necessary information for ACL calculations and report preparation.
  • Update ACL loss factors, including prepayment, WARM, Vintage, qualitative adjustments, and transfer risk factors.
  • Assist in CECL's ACL model performance and validation testing, ensuring model documentation is up-to-date.
  • Manage Credit Risk Models, including Risk Rating, Market Rating, and RAROC, ensuring implementation, validation, and documentation.
  • Prepare Credit Risk SEC, OCC, and other regulatory reports, ensuring reconciliation with Financial Reporting reports.
  • Coordinate with Credit Risk and Financial Reporting to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Update and maintain monthly Credit Risk data, used by the department to prepare reports and track loan portfolio performance.
  • Prepare quarterly Credit Risk presentations for the Executive Committee and Board Risk Committee.
  • Assist in defining Amerantbank's Credit Risk profile and appetite, monitoring emerging risks, and recommending mitigating strategies.
  • Review and report on credit risk indicators, including Enterprise Risk Management indicators.
  • Coordinate charge-off approval processes and maintain Charge-offs and Recoveries files for Credit Risk reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining Amerantbank's Credit Risk policy and procedures manuals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting; Master's degree in business or related field desirable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in banking, ideally in credit risk modeling and estimating CECL's Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL).
  • Expertise in Excel, including lookup tables, pivot tables, charts, and macros.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fully bilingual (Spanish and English) desirable.
