Position Overview
Kellogg Community College (KCC) is proud to host the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program, a vital component of our dedication to student achievement since 1982, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Our TRIO SSS program supports 250 participants, offering enhanced programs and services designed to cultivate a strong sense of belonging and community among students. Situated within the dynamic Center for Student Success, the TRIO SSS program collaborates with essential services such as tutoring, disability support, and academic testing, addressing the diverse needs of our student population, including special groups like Perkins and Kellogg Kickstart participants.

Key Responsibilities
As a Program Advisor for TRIO SSS, you will be instrumental in our mission to empower students. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Success, you will work alongside a dedicated team to adhere to grant guidelines and ensure program excellence. Utilizing a comprehensive case management approach, you will provide intensive coaching to assist students in navigating their academic journeys while creating and delivering engaging programming that fosters community. This includes organizing activities, workshops, tours, and cultural events that enhance the TRIO SSS student experience.

A primary responsibility of the Program Advisor is to connect students with campus and community resources that support their academic success and completion. Additionally, you will assist the Director by providing essential grant data, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the TRIO SSS program.

Physical Demands
The responsibilities of this position are carried out in an office environment and presentation venues. Travel by car is required. The role may involve intermittent periods of physical exertion, such as moving between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, and lifting materials or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 – 45 pounds). Regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration is typically required. Meeting reasonable deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy may also be part of the role.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience working with populations similar to those served by TRIO and other special populations projects (first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities).
  • Familiarity with student information management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, administration, and external agencies.
  • Experience advocating for underserved populations in areas such as policy, programming, and campus culture.
  • Former TRIO participant or similar background.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position, according to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, is $52,927 to $66,156.
