Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate Senior Frontend Software Engineer to enhance and refine our video streaming platforms. Our infrastructure is designed to be highly distributed and scalable, utilizing cloud technology to deliver a significant portion of internet traffic in North America. Our in-house developed video players and pipelines handle both live and on-demand content, ensuring seamless ad integration and optimal delivery to our expanding audience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the playback quality across all devices for content delivered by Mediabistro.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the next generation of our content streaming frontend infrastructure.
  • Implement continuous enhancements to the reliability, performance, and security of our streaming services, utilizing both proprietary technology and contributing to open-source initiatives.
  • Measure and optimize every facet of our content delivery process to enhance the quality of the viewing experience.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development.
  • Proficient in integrating media players such as Shaka, media3/Exoplayer, and AVPlayer.
  • Familiarity with streaming protocols including MPEG-DASH, HLS, and CMAF.
  • Experience with content packaging and digital rights management (DRM).
  • Knowledge of Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in developing efficient and feature-rich applications for Web, Android, and/or iOS using JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, or Swift.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and programming languages to meet application needs.
  • Experience in handling large datasets to prioritize projects and assess impact.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active contributor to open-source video streaming projects.
