About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior User Researcher to lead our user research efforts at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing user research strategies, process development, execution, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Comprehensive User Research Strategy: Align with GSK's business goals and user needs to drive user-centric design decisions.
  • Execute User Research Strategies: Engage stakeholders in scientific dialogues to improve user success and enhance overall user experience.
  • Understand Current State of Scientific Workflows: Identify use cases with highest potential impact that are implementation ready.
  • Identify New Use Cases: Across personas with the potential to be transformed by GSK's data products and services through user interviews and process mapping.
  • Assist Engineering Team: With creation of testing strategies for use cases deployed in the customer environment.
  • Ensure Product Delivery: On challenging scientific goals after product launch.
  • Understand Value of Deploying GSK-Enabled Scientific Applications: Through deep understanding of challenges of customers' current state.
  • Translate User Requests: Into actionable product requirements for engineering teams.
  • Build Relationships with Customers: Understand customers' processes and objectives, and introduce new ways of doing things better and more productive, and solicit feedback.
  • Research Competition and Market Trends: And propose roadmap trade-offs between parity and innovation.
Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioinformatics, biology, computational biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience with a wide range of user research methodologies and techniques, including quantitative and qualitative research methods with Bachelor's.
  • 5+ years of experience with a wide range of user research methodologies and techniques, including quantitative and qualitative research methods with Master's.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry, biotech industry, and digital healthcare industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and communicate insights.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, data mining, and interpretation of complex scientific data sets. Skills in using software tools like Python, R, or MATLAB are beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, work effectively in cross-functional team environment.
  • Interpersonal skills and motivation to build relationships proactively with a wide, global network.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • A foundation in biology is preferred, including understanding concepts such as target discovery, NGS, small molecule discovery, large molecule discovery.
