Senior Associate Director of Recruitment

Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director of Recruitment to join our team. As a key member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, you will play a critical role in managing a talented staff of admissions counselors and directors, as well as a Travel and Events Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement an innovative recruitment strategy to attract and retain an academically talented and diverse student population.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a recruitment team of approximately 15 admissions counselors and directors, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of recruitment initiatives.
- Develop and implement a student search strategy to support university goals, including the implementation of a territory management plan.
- Provide oversight and additional context as needed to transfer and international recruitment efforts led by specialized directors within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, attending weekly Senior Staff meetings and contributing as a key decision maker.
- Create an annual territory management strategy with the Travel and Events Manager, utilizing historical application data to inform travel for the recruitment staff.
- Advertise and coordinate the local on-site admissions program for the New River and Roanoke Valleys.
- Report updates related to application trends, travel, events, and general recruitment activities, including contributing to the annual Undergraduate Admissions report.
- Advise prospective undergraduate students and families regarding undergraduate educational opportunities, admissions procedures, transfer of credit, financial assistance, and programs.
- Coordinate and conduct analysis for the purposes of program assessment, policy assessment, researching best practices, forecasting enrollment trends, and yield management.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with key secondary school contacts within an assigned territory.
- Assist with short and long-term strategic planning and implementation of recruitment programs and activities, marketing plans, technology, and office goals.
Requirements
- Master's degree
- Several years of service in the college admissions field
- Strong communication skills
- Supervisory experience of a team of admissions professionals
- Experience in a public higher education setting
- Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to increasing underrepresented student enrollment
- A demonstrated ability of attentiveness to detail, being well-organized, and managing multiple priorities
- Experience in handling high-pressure situations
- Must be willing to work a schedule that includes frequent evenings, weekends, holidays, and out-of-town travel
- A valid driver's license is required
- Must also be able to lift at least 40 pounds independently
