Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Cost Accounting Specialist is tasked with establishing the standard costs for all products manufactured at designated facilities and analyzing these costs against actual performance throughout the fiscal period. This role collaborates with corporate finance to develop comprehensive budgets and forecasts, while also pinpointing the reasons for significant variances from previous projections. Additionally, this position may guide clerical staff and team members concerning inventory, payroll, and supply transactions with respect to their financial implications.

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:

This role reports directly to the Plant Manager. Certain positions may oversee an Inventory Specialist, clerical personnel, and/or production staff. The role necessitates close cooperation with corporate accounting, finance, and plant personnel.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Fundamentals and practices of financial and manufacturing accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory accounting.
  • Principles and practices of financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP standards.
  • Relevant Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Analyze actual performance in comparison to budgeted figures.
  • Facilitate cooperation through discussion and negotiation.
  • Identify, investigate, and analyze issues, propose alternative solutions, and forecast outcomes of suggested actions.
  • Collect, assess, and interpret data effectively.
  • Organize, plan, and execute tasks efficiently.
  • Utilize computer systems and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Exhibit behaviors consistent with Tree Top's performance management and development framework.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, cost accounting, or operational financial management.
  • Experience with ERP database systems is advantageous.
