Job Title:
PLANT ACCOUNTANT

LOCATION:

POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Plant Accountant plays a crucial role in establishing the standard costs associated with all products manufactured at designated facilities. This position involves continuous assessment of these costs against actual performance metrics throughout the fiscal period.

The individual will collaborate with corporate finance teams to create comprehensive budgets and forecasts, while also pinpointing the reasons behind significant variances from previous projections.

Additionally, this role may involve guiding clerical staff and other team members on matters related to inventory management, payroll processing, and supply chain transactions, focusing on their financial implications.


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
This role reports directly to the Plant Manager. Depending on the specific position, there may be supervisory responsibilities over an Inventory Specialist, clerical personnel, and/or production staff. Close collaboration with corporate accounting, finance, and plant personnel is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Understanding of financial and manufacturing accounting principles.
Comprehensive knowledge of inventory accounting practices.
Familiarity with financial forecasting and budgeting methodologies.
Strong grasp of GAAP standards.
Awareness of relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
Analyze and compare actual performance against budgeted figures.
Facilitate cooperation through effective communication and negotiation.
Identify, investigate, and resolve financial discrepancies, proposing viable solutions.
Collect, assess, and interpret financial data.
Organize, plan, and execute tasks efficiently.
Proficient in utilizing computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Adhere to performance management and development standards established by the company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, cost accounting, or operational financial management is required.
Experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
