Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-oriented Strategic Director of Institutional Partnerships and Fundraising who will lead and expand our efforts to secure external funding for policy research, advocacy, and programmatic work among institutional funders.

This senior leadership position will advance our institutional giving strategy, grow our foundation and corporate revenue, while expanding the partnerships required to achieve our programmatic goals.

About the Role

The Strategic Director will provide vision and direction for our fundraising team, work closely with our research and program divisions, and executive office, ensuring the successful acquisition and stewardship of financial resources that drive our mission forward.

This is a unique opportunity to co-lead our development team in taking on an ambitious campaign. The ideal candidate should be a seasoned development professional with a deep understanding of the philanthropic funding landscape, excellent communication skills, and a passion for equity and public policy impact.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy to secure funding for PolicyLink's programmatic areas from foundation grants and corporate partnerships.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with our Chief Development Officer, senior leadership, and program teams to identify funding priorities and align development efforts with organizational goals.
  • Fundraising and Revenue Generation: Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key funding stakeholders, including foundations and corporate partners.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and manage a high-performing development team focused on securing funding among institutional partners.
About You

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of successfully managing and securing foundation and corporate funding for policy, think tank, and/or advocacy-focused initiatives.

You should also have experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder funding relationships and large-scale projects. Additionally, you should be comfortable with soliciting 8-figure gifts and have successfully raised at least $20M annually.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000, based on the location, industry standards, and job requirements.
