Patient Surveillance Technician

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients, utilizing a digital two-way audio device to communicate and redirect patients as needed. Promptly alert nursing staff if assistance is required.
- Safeguard and monitor the well-being of up to 12 patients through video surveillance, communicating alerts to clinical staff and intervening with any patients at risk of harm.
- Deliver appropriate care tailored to the individual treatment plans of patients, as directed by the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Engage in necessary handoff communication regarding patient behaviors and relevant information upon arrival on the unit and during shift changes. Coordinate meal breaks with the charge nurse to ensure continuous patient observation.
- Provide verbal guidance to patients as required, demonstrating behaviors consistent with the organization's Service Excellence Standards.
- Act as a Patient Care Technician when video monitoring duties are not in effect.
- Adhere to safe work practices and safety regulations, actively participating in organizational and departmental safety initiatives.
- Seek assistance when a patient poses a potential threat to themselves or others, escalating any safety concerns to the covering RN or charge nurse, and ensuring that identified safety issues are promptly addressed.
- Comply with all responsibilities related to the position.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Additional Information:
Experience in data entry is necessary. A minimum of six months of experience as a Patient Care Technician is preferred. Proficiency in using video monitoring system software is essential. Strong verbal communication skills are required, with a good command of English. Excellent service-oriented behaviors are expected. While not mandatory, previous experience in an acute care environment and direct patient care experience are desirable. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Nursing Assistant certification is a plus.
