Air Traffic Control Supervisor

As a Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist, you will be responsible for directing the work of subordinate employees at the organizational unit level, providing first-line supervision to a team of FSS Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS). This role involves routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Directs the work of subordinate employees and provides first-line supervision to a team of FSS Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS).
- Responsible for planning, assigning, setting priorities, tasks, and schedules; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate.
- Acts as the approving authority for leave and gives direction and instruction to employees on both technical and administrative matters.
- Provides training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates and facilitates team building.
- Continuously reviews work processes to assure results that meet the agencies mission and the customer's needs.
- Serves as a member of the management team to ensure organizational performances meets strategic goals.
- When assigned, serves as Watch Supervisor, and assumes overall management and supervision of the operations area.
- Performs staff support functions as assigned.
- Uses assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish project/program objectives.
- Manages budget and requests additional resources as needed.
- Contributes to budget planning process and projects short-term future needs.
- Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12, CPC level.
- Applicants must have specialized experience in an air traffic facility which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the advertised position.
- This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations.
This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a testing designated position (TDP) will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
This position is covered under Public Law for early retirement purposes and is subject to mandatory retirement provisions.
