Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures at a technical level, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment, ensuring optimal results in the acquisition of data.
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Present relevant information to physicians based on protocol prior to the start of exams.
  • Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, with accurate updates and documentation in Rad Assessment and ISITE for archiving and interpretation.
  • Practice and maintain MR safety in the department, demonstrating a strong ability to interact with patients and coworkers.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Perform procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving, communicating instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Meet the educational requirements of a graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT or ARDMS program.
Requirements
  • Obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS certification required.
  • ARRT Certificate, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance.
