Warehouse Operations Specialist - 1st shift

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Responsible for determining daily work schedules based on work board instructions and guidance from Lead Team Member and Supervisor; accurately filling and completing customer orders according to specified guidelines; updating and confirming items in the inventory management system; operating pallet wrapping equipment; breaking down incoming shipments and sorting by product and/or designated area; consolidating orders with identical shipping identification numbers; loading materials onto transport vehicles; performing 5S activities; and assisting and answering inquiries from team members as necessary.

Must possess the ability to execute necessary transactions in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), whether on a desktop or using RF scanning equipment, along with troubleshooting related to job functions.

Must be licensed and proficient in operating various material handling equipment including sit-down forklifts, stand-up counterbalance forklifts, man-up order pickers, ride-on pallet jacks, reach trucks, and multi-directional forklifts.

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

Daily Schedule
  • Determines daily work schedule based on work board instructions and direction from Lead Team Member and Supervisor.
Receiving, Sorting and Staging
  • Unloads shipments from transport vehicles using forklifts or pallet jacks; reads labels to ascertain designated storage or staging locations; combines and separates shipments into individual pallets based on product and/or shipping ID numbers; verifies order quantities against packing lists; inputs information into the inventory management system.
  • Utilizes a forklift or reach truck to transport pallets from receiving and production areas to designated storage and staging locations.
Replenishment
  • Identifies products and containers for replenishment; scans containers and transports pallets, utilizing a forklift or reach truck, to designated storage locations.
Picking, Packing and Shipping
  • Picks inventory and places it in containers; transports to packing lanes; verifies quantities match with scanner instructions; moves products into final shipping containers; labels containers to create final shipping units; confirms into the inventory management system; transports to designated shipping areas; ensures orders are accurate and efficient, adhering to established guidelines and standards.
  • Shippers are responsible for ensuring all shipments and orders are loaded onto transport vehicles according to bills of lading and that information is updated in the inventory management system.
  • Scans and picks coils and fittings using order pickers according to customer orders.
  • Picks and labels straight lengths; transports to shipping docks using forklifts.
Put Away
  • Scans pallets and inventory into receiving to determine storage locations; transports products accordingly using forklifts or reach trucks.
Returns/Bookings
  • Receives returns; verifies quantities against documentation; confirms items in the inventory management system; updates and makes notes as necessary; prints and attaches updated labels; returns products to designated storage areas.
Cleaning and Area Upkeep
  • Maintains a clean work environment; may perform 5S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, and sustain) to organize and manage the distribution center.
Other
  • Assists team members as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have accurate counting and math skills.
  • Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, and the inventory management system.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to read and understand information presented.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy or bulky items weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while maintaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to assist others, regardless of their position or department.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Warehouse Management Systems experience preferred.
  • Lean experience preferred.
