Job Summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Corrosion Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our Physical Sciences Department, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to execute complex technology projects and support the implementation and expansion of our corrosion- and coatings-related technology development strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to execute complex technology projects
  • Support the implementation and expansion of our corrosion- and coatings-related technology development strategy
  • Initiate innovative concepts, write proposals, and market the concepts internally and externally
  • Lead project execution and generate intellectual property
  • Publish and present technical findings
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience
  • Strong technical expertise in corrosion science, including working experience with various corrosion environments and testing processes and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers
  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field and 7+ years of related corrosion work experience
  • Familiarity with aerospace/defense applications
  • Root cause analysis to understand corrosion phenomena in the field
  • Corrosion modeling capabilities to match experiments to theory
