OVERVIEW

The Retail Operations Supervisor serves as a vital support to the Store Manager, ensuring seamless daily operations and fostering a positive shopping experience. This role is pivotal in driving team engagement and operational success, aligning with JOANN's core mission and vision. The Supervisor exemplifies leadership qualities akin to that of a Store Manager, guiding the team with enthusiasm and expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER CONNECTION

  • Builds enduring relationships with customers by proactively understanding and addressing their needs.
  • Acts as a representative of JOANN within the community, enhancing brand visibility.
  • Inspires and motivates the team to be exemplary brand ambassadors.
  • Maintains a keen awareness of product offerings and stays informed about emerging trends.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Communicates key initiatives, leadership updates, and promotional activities effectively.
  • Ensures strict adherence to operational guidelines and procedures.
  • Encourages the team to surpass sales targets by enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Develops strategic plans and equips the team with tools to meet performance indicators.
  • Handles freight operations in accordance with company protocols.

STRATEGIC THINKING

  • Stays informed about industry developments and identifies opportunities for market relevance.
  • Adapts to changes and shifts priorities as necessary.
  • Analyzes sales reports to identify trends and formulates strategies to achieve both personal and store objectives.
  • Utilizes effective models to consistently meet sales goals and corporate objectives.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Mentors team members to improve overall store performance.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous learning and teamwork.
  • Identifies and nurtures in-store talent through succession planning and performance management.
  • Engages in recruitment and training processes to fulfill staffing requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Regularly walks throughout the store during work hours.
  • Reads and interprets various documents and reports.
  • Communicates verbally with customers and team members consistently.
  • Inputs data using computer systems and handheld devices.
  • Utilizes communication devices effectively.
  • Handles merchandise using appropriate equipment.
  • Lifts and organizes items on shelves and displays.
  • Engages in physical activities such as bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • Capable of lifting weights up to 49 pounds individually and participating in group lifts of up to 97 pounds.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

Assists the Store Manager in various responsibilities as needed.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

This full-time position requires flexible availability, with the expectation of working an average of 36 hours per week. Flexibility includes the ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in retail.
