Role Summary

The Manager of Trading Cards, Memorabilia, and Hardlines Partnerships will play a key role within the Consumer Products Licensing team, managing a portfolio of licensees. This role will support the successful development of officially licensed trading cards, memorabilia, and hardlines products on behalf of OneTeam's roster of rightsholder partners, which currently includes the LCSPA, MLSPA, NFLPA, NWSLPA, USRPA, USWNTPA, WNBPA, and OneTeam's College NIL group licensing program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Licensee Account Management
    • Support the Director of Trading Cards, Memorabilia, & Hardlines Partnerships to manage category licensees, ensuring business objectives are achieved and the rights granted to licensees are successfully activated upon.
    • Support all key licensee planning measures, including working with licensees to plan annual and ongoing product release schedules, player assortment selection, and marketing plans.
    • Hold regular standing calls with assigned licensees.
    • Work with licensees to develop marketing activations, athlete-specific or otherwise, in support of driving heightened awareness and sell-through of licensed products.
    • Manage product approvals within OneTeam's licensee management platform (currently, Direct Licensing Hub or DLH).
    • Enforce IP guidelines, requirements, and communicate rightsholder preferences to licensees.
    • Provide licensees with relevant information and updates about rightsholder partners.
  • Trading Cards and Memorabilia
    • Provide regular trading cards and sports memorabilia industry analysis by leveraging both internal and external resources to support the growth of each category.
    • Assist with ongoing trading card and memorabilia initiatives, such as the Trading Card Fund.
    • Represent OneTeam at industry events, such as trading card and licensing shows.
  • Rightsholder Partnerships
    • Support the Strategic Partnerships team to ensure delivery of world-class service in support of our rightsholder partners, including product approvals, regular updates on the state of the category, and licensee-by-licensee analysis.
    • Business Operations & Business Planning
    • Work with the Business Operations team to ensure timely delivery of licensee sales reports; analyze and distill summaries of licensee sales and royalty reports.
    • Contribute to Consumer Products team strategy and planning exercises, such as OKRs.
    • Manage renewal negotiations and internal contracting process for each assigned licensee when applicable.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of prior experience in sports licensing and/or trading card and memorabilia industries.
    • Strong understanding of the trading card and/or memorabilia industry preferred.
    • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to manage across key stakeholders (licensees, retailers, and rightsholder partners).
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
    • Familiarity utilizing a licensee management system (e.g., DLH, BrandComply).
    • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.

Compensation

Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000 (base + bonus)

Working Conditions

The Manager of Trading Cards, Memorabilia, and Hardlines Partnerships role primarily involves office-based work, requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings. Occasional lifting of light objects, such as trading card samples and promotional materials, may be needed. The position may also involve travel to industry events, which can include walking, standing, and carrying materials for extended periods. Effective communication skills are essential, as the role requires clear verbal and written communication with internal teams, licensees, and external partners, including conducting meetings, phone calls, and video conferences.

The job also demands strong cognitive and mental abilities, including data analysis, strategic planning, decision-making, and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines. The ability to problem-solve, negotiate, and adapt to changing priorities is important. The work environment can be remote or at a designated office location, and the role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
