The Personal Care Specialist is an integral member of the PACE Interdisciplinary Team. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the role involves participating in the comprehensive planning, execution, and assessment of personal care and safety for participants both at the facility and within the community. This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM; no evening, weekend, or holiday shifts required.

Location: Lowell, MA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance to participants with all facets of personal care at the facility and in the community, as instructed.
  • Supports meal services at the facility, including one-on-one feeding, while adhering to dietary and fluid restrictions.
  • Assists nursing staff with specimen collection, oxygen administration, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Communicates any medical concerns or changes in participants' physical, cognitive, or functional status to the primary nurse.
  • Acts as an escort for medical appointments and other necessary engagements.
  • Completes all tasks as assigned on a daily basis.
  • Restocks supplies and ensures cleanliness in exam rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and storage areas.
  • Sanitizes tables, chairs, water coolers, exam tables, and other surfaces.
  • Engages in activities, special projects, and therapeutic one-on-one interactions.
  • Measures vital signs and safely transfers participants.
  • Completes mandatory training promptly and attends monthly meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Follows all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintains CPR certification as mandated.
  • Must be able to pass a fit test; the position requires a mask where a tight seal is essential, and facial hair that interferes with the seal is not permitted.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • HHA certification or its equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with the elderly population.
  • Ability to connect with seniors and anticipate their needs effectively.
  • Capability to perform vital sign assessments, assist with participant transfers, and communicate changes in participant status.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates a positive and collaborative attitude within the team.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications are preferred.
  • Frequent local travel is expected.
