Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist II at Rady Children's Hospital, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the cardiopulmonary system for both children and adults. Your expertise will involve assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with respiratory conditions, taking into consideration their age, development level, and size. You will work closely with the healthcare team to provide a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. Your ability to identify your own limitations and seek appropriate resources will be essential in this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field

1 year of experience in respiratory care

BLS for Health Providers (AHA)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (AHA)

Respiratory Care Practitioner certification

In lieu of an Associate's Degree, a diploma from a NBRC-certified Respiratory Therapist Program will be accepted for employees hired before October 1, 2013

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or CRT for employees hired prior to October 1, 2013

NRP Advanced Provider (AAP) with exception for employees in the Pulmonary Function Lab

Pulmonary Function Lab Only:

Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) required within 6 months of hire for new hires post July 1, 2021

RT II new to Pediatrics must obtain PALS (AHA) and NRP Advanced Provider (AAP) within 3 months of hire

ACLS (AHA) for those in the RT Charge Role

Responsibilities:

Provide respiratory care to patients of all ages, including children and adults

Assess and diagnose respiratory conditions, including cardiopulmonary disorders

Develop and implement treatment plans to address respiratory conditions

Work closely with the healthcare team to provide a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing

Identify own limitations and seek appropriate resources as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field

3 years of experience in respiratory care

Pulmonary Function Lab Specialist: 1+ year Pulmonary Lab experience

Bilingual

Advanced Credential

Salary Range:

The current salary range for this position is $42.00 to $57.27. A candidate's placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
