Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist I or II provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care services to patients of all age groups. This role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within intra and inter departmental teams. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of respiratory care procedures and be able to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements to Respiratory operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provides diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care services to patients of all age groups.
  • Responds to cardiopulmonary emergencies and provides airway maintenance and manual and mechanical ventilatory support.
  • Administers therapeutic gases, inhaled aerosol medications, and humidity therapy.
  • Obtains, reviews, and interprets data and assesses the need for and response to respiratory care interventions.
  • Consults with medical and nursing personnel to optimize patient care planning.
  • Performs arterial blood gas analysis and various cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures.
  • Provides patient and family instruction in respiratory therapy self-administration and proper use of equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Therapist I: Valid and Current California Respiratory Care Board Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Current Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) Certificate from NBRC, and Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (HCP) certification.
  • Respiratory Therapist II: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of California, BLS, PALs, NRP, and RRT.
