Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, and controls.
  • Repair and maintain patient care equipment, such as beds, carts, tables, blood pressure devices, and surgery equipment.
  • Assist with monitoring utility systems to ensure efficient operations.
  • Perform routine to moderately complex general maintenance functions, including carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
  • Compute job costs and order parts, equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintain daily logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment repair files to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.
Requirements
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) within 120 days.
  • MECH certification issued by the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association (WHEA) within 3 years.
  • A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate or GED for Maintenance Tech and HVAC Tech.
  • Associate's Degree in HVAC may be considered with less education and experience.
  • No experience required for Maintenance Tech.
  • Typically requires 1-2 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) for HVAC Tech.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Current driving record that meets Aurora fleet safety standards.
  • Knowledge and basic proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and problem-solve.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, climb, and reach above shoulders at least 50% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs from floor to overhead, lift up to 50 lbs from floor to chest-level, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs of force.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, requiring protective clothing and equipment.
  • Temperature in working environment varies from (-10) to 90 degrees, and atmosphere often contains fumes, odors, and dust.
  • Position requires travel, exposing the employee to road and weather hazards.
