We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, and controls.
- Repair and maintain patient care equipment, such as beds, carts, and surgery equipment.
- Assist with monitoring utility systems to ensure efficient operations.
- Perform routine to moderately complex general maintenance functions, including carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
- Compute job costs and order parts, equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Maintain current daily logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment repair files.
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- For HVAC Tech - Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) needs to be obtained within 120 days.
- For Maintenance Tech - Mechanic Education and Certification for Healthcare (MECH) issued by the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association (WHEA) needs to be obtained within 3 years.
- A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
- High School Graduate or GED for Maintenance Tech and HVAC Tech.
- Associate's Degree in HVAC may be considered for less education and experience.
- No experience required for Maintenance Tech.
- Typically requires 1-2 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) for HVAC Tech.
- Current driving record that meets Aurora fleet safety standards.
- Knowledge and basic proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to problem solve.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, climb, and reach above shoulders at least 50% of the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs from floor to overhead, lift up to 50 lbs from floor to chest-level, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs of force.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Temperature in working environment varies from (-10) to 90 degrees and atmosphere often contains fumes, odors, and dust.
- Position requires travel. May be exposed to road and weather hazards.
