Position Overview & Requirements- Specialty: Surgical Technologist

- Shift: Daytime

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems including motors, pumps, conveyors, and HVAC systems.
- Manage and repair patient care equipment such as beds, surgical instruments, and monitoring devices.
- Support the maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance of utilities.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on facility infrastructure including carpentry and painting.
- Calculate job costs and procure necessary parts and materials.
- Maintain accurate logs and records to comply with regulatory standards.
- Assist in various construction and remodeling projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification for HVAC Technicians, to be obtained within 120 days.
- Mechanic Education and Certification for Healthcare (MECH) for Maintenance Technicians, to be obtained within 3 years.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Educational Background:
- High School Diploma or GED is required for Maintenance and HVAC Technicians.
- Associate's Degree in HVAC is preferred for HVAC Technicians, though relevant experience may be considered.
Experience Requirements:
- No prior experience is necessary for Maintenance Technicians.
- 1-2 years of experience in HVAC is typically required for HVAC Technicians.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Driving record must meet Advocate Aurora fleet safety standards.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is essential.
- Proficient computer skills are necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, climbing, and reaching overhead for at least 50% of the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs overhead and 50 lbs to chest level is required.
- Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs of force.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards may occur; protective gear must be utilized as needed.
- Work environment temperatures may range from -10 to 90 degrees, with potential exposure to fumes and dust.
- Travel may be required, with exposure to road and weather conditions.
- Operate all necessary equipment to perform job duties.
