Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, and controls.
- Repair and maintain patient care equipment, such as beds, carts, tables, blood pressure devices, and surgery equipment.
- Assist with monitoring utility systems, including pneumatic tube, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, piped medical gas, and specialized water systems.
- Perform routine to moderately complex general maintenance functions, including carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
- Compute job costs and order parts, equipment, supplies, and maintain current daily logs, preventive maintenance records, and equipment repair files.
- Assist in construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- For HVAC Tech - Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) needs to be obtained within 120 days.
- For Maintenance Tech - Mechanic Education and Certification for Healthcare (MECH) issued by the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association (WHEA) needs to be obtained within 3 years.
- A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
- High School Graduate or GED for Maintenance Tech and HVAC Tech.
- Associate's Degree in HVAC may be considered for HVAC Tech.
- No experience required for Maintenance Tech.
- Typically requires 1-2 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) for HVAC Tech.
- Current driving record that meets Aurora fleet safety standards.
- Knowledge and basic proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to problem solve.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, climb, and reach above shoulders at least 50% of the workday.
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs from floor to up to 50 lbs from floor to chest- and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance.
Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs of force.
May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
Temperature in working environment varies from (-10) to 90 degrees and atmosphere often contains fumes, odors, and dust.
Position requires travel. May be exposed to road and weather hazards.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
