Position Overview

The Supply Chain Superintendent plays a pivotal role in establishing, executing, and overseeing the procurement, logistics, and management of essential materials, equipment, and services that support site operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement procedures related to the supply chain and provide training to relevant personnel to ensure efficient operation of the overall system.
  • Manage contractual agreements for the procurement of materials, equipment, or services that bolster the business initiatives of Kinross Gold Corporation, ensuring adherence to the company's Supply Chain Policy.
  • Develop and assess the site sourcing, contracting, and purchasing strategy in collaboration with various departments.
  • Assist in creating documentation necessary for policy compliance and effective contract lifecycle management, maintaining confidentiality of all Kinross and supplier information.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Oversee the logistics and transportation of supplies and equipment to and from the site.
  • Establish and manage procedures utilizing on-site systems to maintain appropriate stock levels across all sites.
  • Address any issues related to supply chain performance, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and discrepancies.
  • Conduct analysis of spending and cost modeling for goods and services to identify opportunities for service, quality, and cost savings.
  • Perform general and administrative duties, including:
    • Participating in budget and forecasting processes.
    • Maintaining accurate records and files.
    • Recommending personnel selection and hiring as needed, while providing development opportunities for all department employees.
    • Conducting performance evaluations, recommending promotions, and executing corrective actions as necessary.
    • Collaborating with corporate Supply Chain to support global initiatives.
    • Working with other departments to achieve departmental and site objectives.
    • Ensuring punctuality and regular attendance.
    • Executing other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of relevant experience, including supply chain, procurement, contract management, warehousing, and logistics, along with personnel management. Experience in project fields and technical knowledge of mining is preferred.
  • Experience in a complex supply chain organization with a comprehensive understanding of procurement and logistics procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the management team.
  • Skilled in motivating and achieving results, leading by example with a participatory management approach.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of interfacing with senior management, line management, and external vendors with ease.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment with a focus on bottom-line results.
  • Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy when interacting with vendors and customers.
  • Forward-thinking with the capacity to make appropriate day-to-day decisions for the long-term benefit of the company.
  • Proficient technical skills, including a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with JD Edwards and SAP Ariba is preferred.
  • Able to work effectively under time constraints and in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • General understanding of mining, milling, and maintenance operations.
  • Position involves travel to various site locations and stakeholder interactions.
  • Fieldwork required in remote areas and across all seasons.

Compensation Overview

Annual Salary Range: $130,000-145,000 USD
