Welder - Thermal/Refrigeration Specialist

The Welder position at Johnson Thermal Systems, Inc. is a key role in our manufacturing process. As a Welder, you will be responsible for joining metal parts together using heat, pressure, and/or filler materials. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and positioning them in place.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment.
- Analyze drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan the layout, assembly, and operations.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on the requirements or project assignment.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Check to ensure that all welds are to specifications and defect-free.
- Ensure that quality checklists are completed as each step is completed.
- Work with a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Prepare material surfaces to be welded to ensure there is no slag, rust, grease, or loose or thick scale.
- Inspect finished welding projects to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is desired or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
- Certification in welding from an accredited institution is preferred.
- 2+ years of welding experience is required, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy equipment industry.
- Experience with MIG/TIG is preferred.
- Experience with welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools is required.
- Knowledge of a variety of different welding techniques is necessary.
- Understanding of the manufacturing industry is required.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
- Knowledge of jobsite safety and ability to ensure a safe workplace is required.
- Understanding of safety regulations and necessary PPE requirements is necessary.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity is required.
- Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment requiring standing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching throughout an 8-to-10-hour day is necessary.
- Strength to carry product, equipment, and tools up to 50 pounds and push or pull product up to 100 pounds is required.
- Ability to work in both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions is necessary.
