We are thrilled to introduce an EDI Onboarding Specialist to our Group Protection Operations Team, which supports Workplace Solutions.

The Group Protection Operations Team will enhance your technical expertise and foster robust partnerships (internally and externally) while navigating this dynamic environment.

As an EDI Onboarding Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to manage EDI onboarding and implementation projects. You will assist in pre- and post-sales activities by offering insights regarding the compatibility of proposed onboarding strategies with EDI processes.

Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will be essential to coordinate activities, streamline automated EDI processing, and ensure an exceptional onboarding experience for our clients.

This role offers the opportunity to advance within the group insurance sector while acquiring new skills and cultivating strong professional relationships.

What you'll be doing


Oversee EDI requests, ensuring prompt responses in gathering essential information, addressing inquiries, and providing suitable layouts/file formats for EDI processing.


Serve as a liaison between Account Management, internal EDI resources, and external partners to guarantee all parties comprehend optimal policy configurations, adhering to EDI guidelines, to facilitate effective automation and onboarding.


Engage in pre- and post-sales discussions with brokers and clients; outline the advantages and disadvantages of onboarding methods concerning compatibility with automated EDI processing; proactively suggest potential adjustments that could enable automation.

Implement standard inbound file feeds for both new clients and ongoing maintenance requests, including but not limited to demographic and eligibility files.


Collaborate with internal EDI resources and external partners to validate appropriate file configurations and ensure successful initial and ongoing transmission and processing of files.

Provide continuous File Support to existing clients, including technical troubleshooting for Level 2 File Support requests.

Act as a testing resource for general strategic initiatives.


Work with third-party benefit administration partners to expedite the resolution of any escalated file issues; collaborate with partners to investigate root causes and recommend enhancements to processes/file formats to prevent future complications.


Identify, propose, and advocate for process improvements and organizational initiatives to positively impact the team and quality while supporting and promoting change management and departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned responsibilities.

What we're looking for

Must-haves:
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree)

1+ Years of experience in EDI processing and automation directly related to the specific responsibilities for this role OR 1+ Years of experience in Group Protection in customer-facing roles directly related to the specific responsibilities for this role

Effective communication skills (verbal/written)

Demonstrated strong customer service experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions and work with concepts such as averages and/or variances

Nice-to-have:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with adaptability as needed

Pay Range:
$42,300 - $75,500


Actual base pay may vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications required for the role.

The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees.

Additionally, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit, and individual.

Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives, and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
