Position Summary

The Legal Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the District Attorney's Office.

Key Responsibilities

The following tasks are indicative of the responsibilities associated with this position. These are not intended to be exhaustive or exclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary:
  • Coordinates schedules for witnesses involved in trials, grand jury sessions, and other court-related appearances.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, compiles, duplicates, types, files, coordinates, and processes legal documentation.
  • Drafts motions, briefs, orders, and various official documents.
  • Manages appointment calendars efficiently.
  • Assists attorneys in preparing for trials.
  • Transcribes audio recordings as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least five (5) years of experience in high-level administrative roles, with three (3) years preferably in a legal context or related field.

Special Requirements:
  • Must hold a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Must be able to secure GCIC/NCIC certification.

Skills and Competencies

The Legal Administrative Assistant should be knowledgeable in the following areas:
  • Understanding of legal procedures, forms, documents, and terminology, as well as business correspondence, general office practices, the Uniform Rules of the Court, and proficient English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Adept at collaborating effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and the public.
  • Ability to deliver results within established timelines.
