Position Overview

The Assistant at the Lindley Welcome Center will act as the primary liaison for the departments of Environmental Studies, Geography, and Atmospheric Science.

Job Responsibilities

General Office Duties (80%):

  • Welcoming visitors
  • Managing phone communications
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail
  • Maintaining organized filing systems
  • Performing photocopying tasks
  • Conducting data entry
  • Executing additional assigned responsibilities

Special Projects (20%):

  • Each student employee will undertake one or more special projects during the semester. Potential projects include:
    • Website updates
    • Social media management
    • Development of weekly newsletters
Required Qualifications
  1. Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities
  3. Demonstrated capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  4. Availability to work 10 hours per week in blocks of 2 or more hours
  5. During the semester of employment, the student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours. For summer terms, the student must have been enrolled in at least 6 hours in the preceding spring semester, be pre-enrolled for the upcoming fall semester with at least 6 hours, or be enrolled in summer courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Major or minor in a physical science, natural science, or a related discipline
