Position Overview

The physician is tasked with the identification, prevention, and management of health issues presented by patients.

Key Responsibilities


1. Foster and maintain positive and effective working relationships with fellow Corewell Health staff, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.

2. Exhibit a commitment to service and personalized care for both internal (colleagues, hospital staff) and external customers (patients, family members, referring physicians), striving to surpass customer expectations.

3. Contribute to achieving operational, financial, and patient satisfaction objectives. Ensure timely completion of all required competencies and annual organizational mandates.

4. Evaluate and monitor the medical requirements of patients.

5. Deliver high-quality medical services to patients in a cost-effective and appropriate manner, ensuring consistent coverage of the case load.


6. Maintain regular communication with patients' families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the care plan and treatment of patients, including within 24 hours of admission for any significant change in a patient's condition, and prior to discharge.

7. Accurately document medical services in the patient's medical record in compliance with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.


8. Participate in on-call and weekend coverage as required by the department. Engage in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives as mandated by the department.


9. Take part in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.

10. Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care as needed.


11. Engage in ongoing process improvement initiatives through the development and application of clinical pathways and related activities.


12. Support patient involvement in clinical trials and research projects, assessing clinical safety and efficacy data in accordance with Research Institute policies.


13. Provide oversight, education, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses), students, and others as appropriate, ensuring meaningful participation with affiliated medical schools as requested.


Qualifications

1. Required Doctorate

2. LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

3. LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

4. CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

5. CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or

6. CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required

7. CRT-Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required
