The Construction Operations Technician plays a vital role in our restoration team, assisting the construction division in completing both residential and commercial restoration projects by delivering carpentry labor and other construction-related tasks in a professional and timely manner. This position requires after-hours/on-call work on a rotational basis, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overnight travel for emergency mitigation operations.

Key Responsibilities of the Construction Operations Technician:

  • Perform skilled carpentry tasks, including:
    • Interior trim installation (e.g., baseboards, door/window casings, crown molding, etc.)
    • Hanging interior doors
    • Cabinet repairs
    • Drywall patching
    • Hanging sheetrock, taping, coating, and sanding to prepare for painting
    • Interior painting of walls, ceilings, and trim
  • Experience in residential remodeling is advantageous
  • Complete assigned projects according to the specified scope of repairs
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with clients
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of the completed work

Physical Demands of the Role:

Heavy Work - Requires exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, or 20 lbs constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additional physical requirements include:

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Walking long distances between job sites
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
  • Balancing to prevent falls
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as necessary
  • Performing repetitive motions with hands and fingers
  • Effective communication and hearing abilities
  • Close visual acuity for tasks such as reading and operating tools

Work Environment:

Work is conducted at various job sites, both indoors and outdoors, subject to:

  • Weather and temperature variations
  • Noise levels
  • Potential hazards including moving vehicles and mechanical parts
  • Atmospheric conditions such as fumes and dust
  • Close quarters in areas like crawl spaces and attics

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or technical education
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 3-5 years of carpentry experience, including:
    • Installing interior trim
    • Hanging interior doors
    • Cabinet repairs
    • Drywall repairs and sheetrock installation
    • Interior painting
  • Attention to detail and a positive team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work after hours/on-call and travel overnight as needed
  • Must provide own hand tools (e.g., hammer, pry bar, screwdriver, tape measure, etc.)
