Position Overview
Under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, the Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the preparation and packaging of medications and supplies for patient distribution. This role also involves supporting various inventory management tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accurately selects, packages, and labels medications and ancillary supplies according to prescriptions, adhering to CVS specialty protocols and pharmacy regulations. (25% of time)
2. Engages in on-call duties as required by staffing and operational needs. (10% of time)
Required Qualifications
- Valid state Pharmacy Technician license
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience as a pharmacy technician
- Familiarity with:
- Medical terminology used in pharmacy
- Drug names and fundamental pharmacology
- Basic pharmacy law
- Skills in customer service and experience in home health or the healthcare sector
- Certification:
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification, to be obtained within one year of employment
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
- Associate's Degree in Pharmacy Technology (AAS)
- Additional Certifications:
- Obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 12 months if mandated by state regulations
- Licenses:
- Active State Pharmacy Technician License, if required by state regulations
Compensation and Benefits
The typical pay range for this position is $17.46 per hour. This range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for all roles within this job grade. Additionally, this position may qualify for bonuses, commissions, or short-term incentive programs.
