The Construction Technician plays a vital role in our restoration team, assisting the construction division in completing both residential and commercial restoration projects. This involves providing skilled carpentry labor and executing various construction-related tasks in a professional and timely manner. The position requires availability for after-hours/on-call duties on a rotational basis, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overnight travel for emergency mitigation operations.
Key Responsibilities of the Construction Technician:
- Represent the company's Purpose and Core Values with professionalism.
- Perform hands-on carpentry tasks such as:
- Interior trim installation (e.g., baseboards, door/window casings, crown molding, etc.)
- Hanging interior doors
- Cabinet repairs
- Drywall patching
- Hanging sheetrock, taping, coating, and sanding to prepare for painting
- Interior painting of walls, ceilings, and trim
- Experience in residential remodeling is advantageous.
- Complete assigned projects according to the written scope of repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers.
- Ensure the quality and efficiency of the completed work.
Physical Demands of the Construction Technician:
Heavy Work - This role requires exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs frequently, or up to 20 lbs constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Walking long distances between job sites.
- Climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- Balancing to prevent falls.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as necessary.
- Using hands for repetitive motions and grasping.
- Communicating verbally and receiving detailed information.
- Close visual acuity for tasks such as reading and operating tools.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted at various job sites, both indoors and outdoors, subject to:
- Weather and temperature fluctuations.
- Noise levels.
- Potential hazards such as moving vehicles and mechanical parts.
- Atmospheric conditions including fumes and dust.
- Close quarters in areas like crawl spaces and attics.
Qualifications for the Construction Technician:
- High school diploma or technical education.
- Valid Driver's License.
- 3-5 years of carpentry experience, including:
- Installing interior trim.
- Hanging interior doors.
- Cabinet repairs.
- Drywall repairs and hanging.
- Interior painting.
- Attention to detail and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work after hours/on-call and travel as needed.
- Must provide own hand tools.
