Role Summary

The Field Construction Technician engages in numerous physically demanding tasks on construction sites. This role primarily supports construction tradespeople or electricians, assisting with tools, materials, and equipment setup. The technician is capable of executing a broad spectrum of tasks, ranging from simple to highly complex and potentially hazardous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the Foreman, taking on leadership responsibilities to independently manage specific work phases and oversee team completion.
  • Direct heavy equipment operators, including track hoes and loaders, from the ground during excavation tasks. Proficiency in operating smaller machinery, such as skid steer loaders or backhoes, is advantageous.
  • Execute cutting and threading of steel pipes and assist in the fitting and installation of both underground and above-ground tanks.
  • Support the Foreman in grade shooting and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized job site as directed by the Foreman.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by verifying that all safety signs, barricades, and equipment are in place, while wearing appropriate personal protective gear.
  • Keep tools organized, cleaned, and stored properly on the vehicle or job trailer.
  • Maintain job inventory accurately as per the Foreman's instructions.
  • Communicate effectively to anticipate challenges and assist in planning.
  • Uphold the company’s image and maintain a professional appearance.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate the ability to operate a construction vehicle and tow small trailers when necessary (No DUI offenses within the last five years).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Basic mathematical and mechanical skills are essential.
  • Experience in HVAC, pipefitting, petroleum construction, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must meet the company's employment criteria, including passing a drug screening, criminal background check, and MVR if driving for the company.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, with frequent bending, stooping, and standing for 8-10 hours daily.
