Summary:

Hi-Way Paving is in search of a dedicated Driver/Laborer to contribute to our operations in Raleigh, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating non-commercial vehicles, managing the loading and unloading of materials, and performing routine maintenance and inspections on equipment. Additional duties will include general labor tasks and providing support on construction sites. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and flexibility to work varying shifts is required based on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various company vehicles, including water trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and fuel trucks.
  • Deliver materials to designated job site locations as per project specifications.
  • Collaborate with mechanics for the general upkeep of commercial vehicles.
  • Engage in manual labor tasks such as shoveling and raking dirt, gravel, and concrete.
  • Utilize small machinery, including dozers, backhoes, and rollers, as necessary.
  • Manage vehicle traffic and assist equipment operators with signaling.
  • Maintain effective communication with fellow laborers, machine operators, and site supervisors.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and comply with all safety protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • Preferred: Class A or B CDL with hazmat and/or tanker endorsements.
  • Required: Proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles.
  • Experience in heavy or highway construction is essential.
  • Ability to obtain clearance for restricted or high-security areas.
