Postdoctoral Researcher in Low Carbon Technologies

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Decision Sciences Department. This role involves a 9x80 work schedule with alternating Fridays off. The focus will be on employing techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA) to enhance decision-making and project evaluation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team utilizing various modeling tools to address challenges in bioenergy, hydrogen, solar energy, supply chain resilience, and manufacturing sectors.
- Contribute to the development of ongoing and new initiatives at the laboratory by applying TEA/LCA frameworks to formulate economic and commercialization strategies for innovative concepts.
- Assist laboratory leadership in fulfilling Department of Energy and industry objectives, including meeting milestones and reporting metrics.
- Act as a valuable member of our interdisciplinary research and development team, demonstrating both independence and teamwork capabilities. The ideal candidate should be self-driven while also receptive to guidance from colleagues.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication in journals and present research findings at national and international conferences.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Engineering Economics, Forest Economics, Resource Economics, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Degree requirements must be fulfilled by the start of the appointment and obtained within the last five years.
- Proficiency in Techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA).
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English, with a proven record of publications.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The target salary for this role is $96,900, determined by factors such as education and relevant experience.
- This position is designated for testing; candidates will undergo a pre-employment drug screening and periodic testing during employment.
