Postdoctoral Researcher in Low Carbon Technologies

The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Decision Sciences Department, reporting directly to the project investigator. This role operates on a 9x80 schedule from our Idaho Falls facility, allowing for every other Friday off. The focus will be on applying techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA) to enhance decision-making and project evaluation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team utilizing diverse modeling tools and methodologies to address challenges in bioenergy, hydrogen, solar energy, supply chain resilience, and manufacturing sectors.
- Contribute to the development of both current and new initiatives at the INL by leveraging TEA/LCA frameworks to articulate economic viability and commercialization potential for innovative concepts.
- Assist INL leadership in fulfilling Department of Energy and industry expectations, achieving milestones, and meeting deliverables, alongside internal reporting metrics.
- Be a valuable member of our interdisciplinary R&D team, demonstrating self-motivation while also taking guidance from peers and team members.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication in journals and present research findings at national and international conferences.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Engineering Economics, Forest Economics, Resource Economics, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Degree requirements must be fulfilled by the start of the appointment and within the last five years.
- Proven experience in Techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA).
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills in English, demonstrated through publications.
Job Information:
- The target salary for this position is $96,900, determined by factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- This is a testing designated position; a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout employment are required.
