Position: Principal Geotechnical Engineer at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC)

Overview

As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will collaborate closely with senior leadership and executive teams to advance and strengthen the Geotechnical Engineering Practice. Your responsibilities will include building and nurturing relationships with both prospective and existing clients to facilitate the growth of the practice at local and regional scales. Leveraging your expertise, you will guide external stakeholders through projects from initiation to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality.

Your role will involve leading the coordination, management, and oversight of geotechnical investigations for civil engineering projects, including but not limited to building foundations, slope stability assessments, and ground improvement techniques. You will also be responsible for supervising waste management and landfill projects. Key duties will encompass monitoring drilling operations, collecting samples, performing laboratory analyses, and generating comprehensive reports. The projects you will engage with span various sectors, including commercial, retail, energy, and industrial.

In this capacity, you will guide your team through a variety of civil engineering projects while contributing to business development initiatives. A significant aspect of your role will be to assist in the recruitment and professional development of staff, conducting performance evaluations, and establishing development goals for engineers and technicians. You will receive mentorship from senior management to help shape your career trajectory through professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering consulting
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred
  • Expertise in staff coordination, management, and training
  • Proven ability in team leadership and supervision
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management
