Position Overview

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, successfully complete a Central Registry Check for child abuse/neglect, and possess the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Candidates should meet one or more of the following educational criteria:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or be at least 18 years of age
  • One to three months of relevant experience and/or training
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Education or Early Childhood Development.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Available positions include both Full Time and Part Time options.

Shifts will be scheduled within the operational hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general oversight of the Operations Director, Program Director, and/or Head Teacher, the role involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of daily activities at the Sharing Center. The individual will be responsible for the overall supervision of children ranging from 4 weeks to school age.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a positive role model and representative of Bethesda Home of Aberdeen
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in attendance
  • Exhibit flexibility in assignments and scheduling
  • Maintain composure in challenging situations
  • Effectively engage with 10-20 children of diverse personalities throughout the day
  • Assist in fundraising initiatives and program activities
  • Participate in and contribute to all staff meetings
  • Communicate any concerns raised by families or staff to the Director and/or Program Director
  • Contribute to the daily cleaning and maintenance of toys, shelves, and other areas
  • Report issues and seek resolutions from the Operations Director and/or Program Director
  • Interact tactfully with co-workers, supervisors, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public
  • Adhere to established departmental and facility policies and procedures
  • Collaborate harmoniously with staff across all departments
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with co-workers and families
  • Share relevant childcare resources and information with colleagues
  • Support co-workers in their professional development and needs
  • Welcome and integrate new staff members into the team

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting Pay: $11.20/hour; compensation is commensurate with experience.
