Educational Support Specialist

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, successfully complete a Central Registry Check for child abuse/neglect, and possess the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Candidates should meet one or more of the following educational criteria:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or be at least 18 years of age
- One to three months of relevant experience and/or training
- Currently pursuing a degree in Education or Early Childhood Development.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Available positions include both Full Time and Part Time options.
Shifts will vary within operational hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general oversight of the Operations Director, Program Director, and/or Head Teacher, the individual will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of daily activities at the Sharing Center. This role includes the overall supervision of children ranging from 4 weeks to school age.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a positive role model and representative of Bethesda Home of Aberdeen
- Ensure punctuality and reliability in attendance
- Demonstrate flexibility with assignments and schedules
- Maintain composure in challenging situations
- Engage with groups of 10-20 children with diverse personalities throughout the day
- Assist in fundraising and program-related activities
- Participate in and contribute to all staff meetings
- Communicate any concerns raised by families or staff to the Director and/or Program Director
- Contribute to the daily cleaning and maintenance of toys, shelves, and other areas
- Address and escalate issues to the Operations Director and/or Program Director as necessary
- Interact tactfully with co-workers, supervisors, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public
- Adhere to established departmental and facility policies and procedures
- Collaborate harmoniously with staff across all departments
- Establish and nurture trusting relationships with co-workers and families
- Share resources and information relevant to childcare with colleagues
- Support co-workers in their professional development and needs
- Welcome and integrate new staff members into the team
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting Pay: $11.20/hour; compensation is based on experience.
